thinc design worked with the City of Markham on the completion of four parks within the Upper Unionville Neighbourhood. The parks include one larger community park and three smaller neighbourhood parks.
The three Berczy Beckett parks and one larger neighbourhood park are located in the Upper Unionville residential community, a newly developed residential neighbourhood located on the northeast corner of Kennedy Road and 16th Avenue. These parks are integral to the comprehensive open space system comprised of parks, piazza and other open spaces that are vital to this community.
Each park contributed to a common design language built on existing elements and/or contextual aspects established as part of the design process. Each park contains playground equipment, adult fitness, with two of the parks requiring a shade structure.
Construction began in June 2017 and was completed by the end of October 2017. Thinc design carried out full contract administration services for each of the four parks over this four month period.
