thinc design has been retained by the City of Toronto to prepare a Conceptual Design for Cedar Ridge Trail. The 1.4 km natural surface trail connects the Cedar Ridge Creative Centre and the abutting Cedar Ridge Park to a formal paved trail in Lower Highland Creek Park. The trail was in need of a variety improvements to improve safety, minimize user impacts, and improve the user’s overall experience. This included:
enhanced infrastructure;
improved safety;
vegetation enhancements;
connections to other trails, amenities and facilities;
interpretive signage; and,
wayfinding features.
thinc design worked with sustainable trails expert Daniel Scott on the plan which included site reconnaissance, mapping, public consultation, design, cost estimating and preparation of a final report. The plan was completed in 2014 with implementation by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority in 2017 .
