thinc design collaborated with Mehak, Kelly & Associates and HDR Architecture Associates Inc. to develop a ten-year plan for Parks, Trails and Recreation in the City of Thorold. Through an extensive community consultation process which included public meetings, stakeholder interviews and resident and business surveys, the community’s various recreation needs were identified and integrated into the Plan. Work included inventory and assessment of existing parks, trails and recreation amenities, including the City’s two arenas.
A framework of priorities for future decision-making and a vision for future parks and trails was created. Key considerations addressed in the final plan included the provision of various forms of recreation such as family-centred, programmed and senior-based forms of recreational activities.
Through the expertise of both Mehak, Kelly & Associates and HDR Architecture in collaboration with the team at thinc design, functional, aesthetic and comprehensive plans were developed to direct parks, trails and recreation planning over the next decade and enhance the parks and recreation experience of the residents and visitors of Thorold.
