thinc design worked with mountain bike trails specialist Daniel Scott, the City of Thunder Bay, the Blacksheep Mountain Bike Club and Tourism Northern Ontario to prepare a trails master plan for the Trowbridge Forest in Thunder Bay.
The approximately 6 square kilometres supports roughly thirty kilometres of single and double track mountain bike trails, hiking trails and cross country ski trails.
A trails system master plan was required to help guide improvements, opportunities for obtaining funding, and direct future improvements and trail construction. The trail system needs to consider a range of uses including mountain biking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, running, as well as more passive park activities such as hiking, bird watching and wildlife viewing.
Scope of work included stakeholder consultation, trail planning, recommendations on trail closures, new trail alignments, signage and way finding. The project was completed March 2017.
