thinc design supported Mehak, Kelly & Associates on the development of a comprehensive progressive Recreation Master Plan for the Township of Tiny. This community is largely rural, with five settlement areas and a dispersed population. Its permanent resident population totals 11,787 (2016). Its large cottage population (11,551) brings its current high season total to 23,338 people. The Township enjoys a relatively pristine natural environment and extensive waterfront along Georgian Bay, and supports a strong agricultural economy.
Through an extensive community consultation process, stakeholder interviews, and resident and business surveys, the community’s various recreational objectives are met and implemented through the Recreation Master Plan.
Key issues addressed in the final plan include accommodation for both permanent and seasonal population, optimized resources of the municipality’s community-based activities, an assessment of the municipalities parks and recreation facilities to identify priority improvements, consideration of private vs public beach access and encroachments, and the integration of healthy, active living opportunities. .
