thinc design developed a comprehensive conceptual design for Chester Springs Marsh, a 3 hectare restored wetland habitat in the Lower DonValley just south of the Bloor Viaduct. As one of the first major wetland restoration projects in the Don Valley, the biological diversity of the marsh has gradually diminished due to invasive species and the natural succession of the marsh since it was completed in the mid-1990s.
thinc design was retained by the City of Toronto to work with City staff and stakeholders to develop the conceptual design. The design focuses on restoring the biological diversity and performance of the wetland, while also improving the visitor experience through the introduction of an elevated lookout structure, interpretive signage, public art, and wood duck houses
