The City of Cornwall developed its first waterfront plan in 1989, with a significant update 2007. In 2019, this plan prepared by thinc design in association with Mehak, Kelly, and Associates, provides a vision for the future of the City’s waterfront and aligns its objectives with those of the newly adopted Official Plan, the Provincial Policy Statement, and other local plans and guidelines.
The plan was developed using an inclusive consultation process involving open houses, a design charrette, stakeholder interviews, and online surveys. The resulting plan is an accurate reflection of the community’s input and is intended as a living document, providing a road map for implementing improvements over the next 25 years. It identifies 77 recommendations organized by geographical area and provides costing for both design and capital improvements for budgeting purposes.
