South Frontenac Recreation, Parks and Leisure Master Plan

thinc design worked with Mehak, Kelly & Associates and Oraclepoll Research to prepare a Recreation, Parks and Leisure Master Plan for the Township of South Frontenac. This master plan guides the long-term development of local recreation facilities, leisure activities, parks and trails, and the provision of services, programs and events for residents and visitors of all ages. 

The planning process involved conducting needs assessments of programs and events, facilities, parks, leisure activities, and recreation service delivery system. The foundation of the Plan was developed based upon information gathered through background research and stakeholder and community consultations. 

The plan offers a considered response to South Frontenac’s unique context. For example, it addresses challenges such as a dispersed settlement pattern over a very large geographic area, few roads and limited transportation, and lack of municipal services in many areas. The Plan will help the Township leverage its ample opportunities for recreation, such as numerous lakes, access to large natural landscapes and parks, the well-travelled K&P Trail, and proximity to the 401 and Kingston as a larger urban centre.
