Renfrew Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Master Plan

This new Master Plan builds on the foundation set by the 2010 Master Plan for Parks, Recreation and Culture with 200 recommendations to guide Council and staff in the sustainable delivery and development of parks, trails, recreation programs, events, infrastructure, services, and investment through 2034. Encompassed within the Plan is a dedicated Waterfront Master Plan to support the Town’s desire to meet the needs of residents in accessing inclusive open spaces and to encourage visitor attraction with best use of the waterfront.

To leverage the community’s knowledge, ideas, and expertise, a dynamic engagement strategy included 15 one-on-one interviews with Councillors and senior municipal staff, held in person and virtually; an online and telephone survey administered to residents; a virtual survey of parks and recreation user groups; interviews with community stakeholders/external partners; and two Community Open Houses, including an interactive Design Charrette.

The Master Plan includes 200 recommendations for Renfrew’s indoor and outdoor recreation facilities, waterfronts, parks, trails, recreation programming, and delivery of recreation services. These are intended to guide the Town strategically in meeting residents’ needs across the age and stage spectrum over the next ten years.
